Helping Hearts Council will be holding its third annual Sunset Cocktails for a Cause fundraiser. The goal of this night is to raise enough money for a new playground equipment for 200 children at the Bang Pho Nuear School in Thailand. The original playground was devastated by 2011/2012 flooding and the equipment is dangerous and rusty. With a cheerful and safe place for the children to play, they can look past the destruction of the natural disaster and return to normalcy and happiness.

THAILAND, 2011/12 FLOODING:
Between September 2011 and March 2012, Thailand got hit by the landfall of Tropical Storm Nock-ten that caused the worst floods in decades. The flooding killed more than 600 people and caused an estimated seven billion baht ($224 million dollars) in damage to educational facilities. It spread through the provinces of Northern, Northeastern and Central Thailand and severely affected the Bangkok province. Over 2,600 educational institutes -- both public and private -- and around 700,000 people involved in education were affected. The World Bank's estimate for this disaster means it ranks as the world's fourth costliest disaster as of 2011 surpassed only by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, 1995 Kobe earthquake, and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Helping Hearts Council was started in October 2010 to promote the Happy Hearts Fund mission of rebuilding schools and restoring hope and opportunity in the lives of children after natural disasters. Members of HHC come from creative and professional fields of all levels, engaging and empowering a new audience at Happy Hearts Fund.
